Uganda – Wild Frontiers – COVID-19 Information and Standard Operating Protocols

UPDATED 28th APRIL 2022

In response to the current global COVID-19 outbreak, we have developed the following guidelines for travellers to Uganda for entry and exit requirements as well as the protocols for operation of all our camps, lodges, boats and safari services.

Due to the fluid situation on the ground in Uganda the requirements may be subject to change with very little notice and we therefore recommend you contact our reservations team for any further updates required before travel to Uganda is initiated.

BEFORE TRAVEL

Visas

All visitors to Uganda that require entry visas are required to apply and obtain them in advance of arrival via the on-line application service @ $55 each on the following link https://visas.immigration.go.ug/ at least 10 days before travel to Uganda is initiated.  Visas are no longer available on arrival.

Visitors should register as a “tourist” and enter the following information for the contact information required:

Tour Operator Number (Registration no): UTB/RTT/TO/2019/001213

Company Contact (incl. Whatsapp):  +256 772 721 479

COVID Entry Requirements

  • Upon arrival in Uganda all passengers will be required to present proof of full Covid-19 vaccination and may be subject to additional health screening.
  • Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated travellers are required to present a Covid-19 negative test performed less than 72 hours prior to boarding to Uganda
  • Children aged 5 years and below are exempt from the above requirements.

Before departing from your home country, if you are transiting via another country to Uganda, please check the covid testing requirements of that country and your airline for transit passengers.

Departure

Fully vaccinated travellers are not required to test for COVID-19 before departure unless testing is a requirement of their country of destination or their carrier airline.

Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated travellers are required to present a Covid negative test taken with 72 hours of travel upon departure from Uganda.

Children aged 5 years and below are exempt from the above requirements

Should departure testing be required by your airline or countries to which you are travelling, standard or express tests can be arranged.  Fees are between $60-$120 per test, varying with location and turn-around time required.

Positive result on departure

Should a guest test positive when testing prior to departure from Uganda individual arrangements would be made as per the current protocols.

COVID Protocols for whilst in country

Protocols during the Covid-19 pandemic were in line with guidelines communicated by the Uganda Ministry of Health and aligned to protocols and advice from the World Health Organization.

As the situation has evolved, so too have our protocol arrangements along with the easing of restrictions around aspects such as social distancing and wearing of masks.  Your personal safety and enjoyment of your visit to Uganda is of important to us at all times.

Our front of house staff and guides are fully vaccinated and we continue with many aspects of our sanitation programmes. We do our best to ensure all potential areas of concern are covered, but should you have a particular need or concern beyond our current arrangements, we request you notify us and we will do our utmost to accommodate you.
